Task 1: how does Emmet come across? How effective would this trailer be in promoting the film?
In our lesson today, we as a class watched 'The Lego Movie' trailer. At the beginning of the trailer, Emmet the main character is obviously struggling to do is morning exercise, three jumping jacks. This is a very relatable thing as normally, everyone struggles with doing physical exercise. He is described as an 'ordinary guy'. In the trailer we see him not complaining about anything, and going along with whatever the world around him is doing. On first meeting, he seems a very happy guy.

ReplyDeleteYou show understanding of how Emmet is constructed as the 'ordinary' guy and you give evidence from the trailer. Make explicit reference to the fact that he does not have the qualities of a hero, that he is not 'special'. Draw in the way on which child audiences can relate to this, as he resembles them in ordinariness. What does Wyldstyle say to him?
